Creative Customer Feb Competition Winners

Congratulations Anna and Renee for winning our Creative Customer competition for February.

Anna is an inspiration to others wishing to try their hand at bag making with her very first bag using the Grand Revival Flea Market bag pattern using Echino fabric and lined with Tula Pinks ladybugs from the Flutterby fabric collection. Anna found the pattern to be "easy to follow and not too tricky." Well Done Anna!

Renee designed and made this beautiful, apron. Her use of crochet lacework and choice of fabrics make this a particularly stunning and individual piece. Well Done Renee!

Thankyou to all customers who contributed to our gallery and inspired others for the month of Feb!

Victorian Bushfire Devastation

Our hearts and thoughts go out to all Victorians who have lost their homes, loved ones, friends or are still awaiting news on those who are missing due to the devastating bushfires over this weekend.

Kinglake & St Andrews are only 10-15mins from where we live and our daughter will return to school in the morning and is likely to hear at her assembly about the loss of life and property of people known to the school and our local community.

We are also very proud of our two daughters who willingly donated some of their toys & books to the local appeal. Although still young they are also sad for the children & families affected.

We also praise the heroic acts of our CFA, St Johns, Red Cross and other selfless volunteers who have risked their lives to protect others.

We would like to donate 10% of sales this week to the Victorian Bushfire appeal, and in some way help those who have lost so much (if that is at all possible).

Creative Customer January Winners!

What fantastic entries I have in our Handmade Inspirational Gallery last month!! Thankyou everyone for your fantastic entries! Please take a look here at all the lovely inspiration.

Mary has made this gorgeous dress and knitted the bodice and used Sandi Henderson apple dot fabric for the dress. I absolutely love her combination of the knit and fabric together. Congratulations Mary you have a $25 gift voucher to spend in our store. Mary tells me this very unique dress was inspired by these two fabulous blogs here (this lady is super talented in both the knitting and sewing department) and here.
Both blogs are a 'must see' for the coolest knitting projects you have ever seen and also have free patterns available.

And I simply cannot go past the lovely pics Leontine has sent me of lovely nursery pieces for her niece 'Jasmine' that have been sent all the way to India no less. This was a collaboration with a few of Leontine's good friends Rebecca and Selina. What a lot of work has gone into this stunning free motion quilt! Well Done Girls!! A $25 gift voucher will be sent to Leontine for this fantastic submission.

I have already had many fabulous submissions for the February Handmade Inspiration Gallery competition but have been busy adding loads of new fabrics and patterns to the shop so I will attempt to load these into the gallery over the next week. Many thanks everyone! Please email any submissions to gallery@kelanifabric.com.au together with a brief description of your creation and be in the running for a monthly gift voucher prize to spend in store.

Off to School!

BIG WEEK! I waved my eldest off to her first day of Prep this week. As soon as she was gone there has been a huge silence around the place. I have really missed her constant chit chat and her loving helpful nature. I wish her all the best for her bright future and all the exciting moments in life she has to look forward to.

Here is a pic of a school chair bag I appliqued for her. Lani chose all the fabrics herself and is really pleased with the end result.

Creative Customer Competition Winners!

Wishing blog readers and customers a Happy New Year filled with much happiness and joy, not to mention much creativeness in all their handmade projects for 09'!

Thankyou to the customers who contributed to the handmade inspirational gallery in December and congratulations to Kirsten and Julia, who I have chosen to receive a Kelani Gift Voucher this month. Well Done!

Kirsten has handmade both of these beautiful messenger bags using some of the gorgeous 'Australian Designer' textiles by Shannon Lamden and Lara Cameron and may I say they are both darn 'impressive'! For those Birch Forest fans there will be more here in a few weeks in a couple of 'exclusive' colourways.

And these beautifully hand sewn childrens sets are from Julia. The fabrics chosen are so tasteful and work really well together in these garments. Julia's skirt was made using the Pink Fig Stripwork Skirt pattern and the shorts using the fabulous new Make It Perfect Little Explorer pattern.

I continue to love viewing my customer's creativeness and look forward to receiving many more of your beautiful creations for my gallery this year! There are already a few entries that have been emailed to me for this month which I will be posting on the gallery in the next couple of days so don't forget to drop by for a little inspiration.

Don't be shy email a pic of your handmade goodies to gallery@kelanifabric.com.au and the winner for the month of January will be announced early February. More info
