Anna Maria Horner Little Folks Voile

One of our recent collections to our store is 'Little Folks' by Anna Maria Horner. I am so excited about this new collection as it is printed on a new substrate for our store 'voile'. When these fabrics arrived, I could not stop touching them as they are so soft and silky and the brilliant colours, a signature for Anna Maria Horner fabrics are just exquisite. I often find it difficult to describe the colours of Anna Maria Horner fabrics as they are just so unique.

Little Folks voile can be beautifully sewn into childrenswear, womenswear, quilts, and soft furnishings so is in fact very versatile. While slightly dearer in price, it is very reasonable when you look at its quality and that it is printed on an extra wide width of 54/55" which actually reduces the length of fabric required to complete a pattern.

I really could go on about these fabrics forever but instead I will direct you to a fantastic post Anna Maria has written here, which covers her experiences with voile, its uses, washing, sewing and durability. This really is a great post and I am sure will inspire many to sew with voile for the first time!

NEW Anna Maria Horner 'Good Folks' Fabric Collection

The entire NEW fabric collection 'Good Folks' by Anna Maria Horner has arrived and they are stunning both in design and colour. This collection is so appealing as it has both a vintage and contemporary look and although 100% cotton is soft and silky to touch. As with all of Anna Maria Horner's fabric collections, her signature style of vibrant colours and unique design will guarantee a final sewing, home decorating or craft result with a real 'WOW' factor! ENJOY!

Christmas Mermaids!

Lani and Keely adore mermaids and absolutely love their new Chrissie dresses handmade from Heather Ross 'underwater sisters mermaid' fabric with Heather Bailey and Anna Maria Horner fabric used for the bodice and hem. Both of these dresses were slightly adjusted versions of the Portabellopixie 'Gracie' pattern using the Tiered Top option. Keely has made herself at home with chocolate treat in hand at Santa's mailbox!

Creative Customer Competition Winner!

A big thanks to all those customers who contributed to the Kelani Inspirational Gallery this month! Once again I have found the task of picking a winner incredibly difficult!! Adriana used a vertical patchwork effect of predominantly Anna Maria Horner, 'Garden Party' fabric for the front and I just love her use of one larger scale Garden Party fabric guest of honour for the back of her bag. I am sure Adriana will be stopped in the street with this stunning handbag.

Adriana, also sent in another gorgeous bag she had made again with fabric from the 'Garden Party' collection but this time using the Melly & Me Sherbet Bag Pattern.

Here is in Anna Maria's words, how she was inspired to design 'garden party'. What an inspiring and wonderful insight to how a collection of exquisite fabrics can develop!

"My thoughts for Garden Party were first and foremost inspired by the palette of beautiful things I collected as I was preparing to host a huge engagement party for an old friend last year. I was gathering flowers, cakes, linens, cocktails mixes, wines, working in the garden, and thinking ahead to what it would be like to have such an eclectic group of people in my home all to celebrate the happy couple on a sweltering hot August evening. I thought about all the elements that pull a party together, from the bouquets on the tables to the tiles on the dancefloor and the sometimes quirky, sometimes romantic combinations of different personalities meeting up for the first time. I was inspired by the optimism of the 50's and the clever swank of the 40's."

Anna Maria Horner's new 'Drawing Room' collection is in store now and is simply gorgeous!

This is a medium home dec weight fabric with a wide width that would look stunning as wall art, clothing and upholstery as above, as well as bags and lamps as pictured below. There are endless possibilities to what you can do with this collection!

I just love the way Anna Maria has covered these armchairs. What a fantastic feature they would be in a lounge or dining room.

The bright and colourful 'Garden Party' fabrics also look amazing in this dress and bag!
